Sawyerpuram, August 2026: Students of Dr. G. U. Pope College of Engineering, Sawyerpuram, have brought laurels to the institution by securing the First Runner-Up position in the prestigious AICCI’26 National Startup Hackathon, a Pan-India level competition organised by the All India Chamber of Commerce and Industries (AICCI), Tuticorin.
The winning team comprised Reniston R., Hepzibah E., Balamurugesan M., Siva Arumuga Perumal S., and Madhu Bharath E., final-year B.E. CSE students of the college. The team was awarded a cash prize of ₹50,000 in recognition of their outstanding performance.
The achievement reflects the students’ innovation, technical expertise, teamwork and entrepreneurial spirit in competing on a prestigious national platform alongside participants from across India.
The students also received words of appreciation and applause from Thiru. A. Srinath, Hon’ble Minister for Fisheries – Fishermen Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, for their remarkable achievement.
The Correspondent, Mr. N. Jeyakumar Santhosh, and Principal, Dr. J. Japhynth, congratulated the students and appreciated their efforts in bringing national recognition to the institution.
