AICTE and Anna University Norms

---

Engineering Department

Assistant Professor – Qualification:

• B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in a relevant branch with a first-class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.

Minimum Experience: Experience not mandatory.

Associate Professor – Qualification:

• Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and first-class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch.
• At least 6 research publications in SCI/SCIE/UGC/AICTE approved journals.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in teaching/research/industry, of which at least 2 years shall be Post Ph.D. experience.

Professor – Qualification:

• Ph.D. degree in the relevant field and first-class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant branch.
• At least 6 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI/SCIE/UGC/AICTE approved journals and at least 2 successful Ph.D. supervised as Supervisor/Co-supervisor until eligibility date of promotion.
  OR
• At least 10 research publications at the level of Associate Professor in SCI/SCIE/UGC/AICTE approved journals until eligibility date of promotion.

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in teaching/research/industry, of which at least 3 years shall be at a post equivalent to that of an Associate Professor.

Humanities and Sciences Department

Assistant Professor – Qualification:

• At least 55% marks (or) equivalent CGPA at the Master’s degree level in the relevant subject.
• Candidates should have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR, or similar tests accredited by UGC like SLET/NET.
• Ph.D. candidates are exempt from the requirement of SLET/NET.

Minimum Experience: Experience not mandatory.

Associate Professor – Qualification:

• At least 55% marks (or) equivalent CGPA at the Master’s degree level and Ph.D. in the relevant subject.
• Minimum of 7 publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.

Minimum Experience: 8 years of experience in teaching/research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a university, college, or accredited research institution/industry.

Professor – Qualification:

• Ph.D. in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline, with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work.
• A minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.

Minimum Experience: A minimum of 10 years of teaching/research experience in a university/college, including at least experience equivalent to Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, with evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates.

• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with colleagues to design, develop, and improve curriculum and course materials.
• Assessment and Evaluation: Create and grade assignments, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback to help students improve.
• Secure Funding: Seek grant opportunities and write proposals to support research initiatives and institutional development.
• Participate in Committees: Engage actively in departmental meetings, committees, and community events to support the college’s mission and vision.
