Thoothukudi, April 9:
The Annual Sports Meet 2026 of Dr. G.U. Pope College of Engineering was held with great enthusiasm at the college playground on Thursday.
Mr. Manathi P. Ganesan, former Indian Kabaddi player, Olympic Games gold medallist, and Arjuna Awardee, attended as the Chief Guest and encouraged students to actively participate in sports for physical fitness and discipline.
Mr. S.D.K. Rajan, Lay Secretary of CSI–TND, and Rev. P. Moses Jebaraj, Vice-Chairman of CSI–TND, were present as special dignitaries. Other notable attendees included Rev. D.G.A. Thomas, Mr. D.K.M. Johnson David, Mr. J. Jebachandran, and Rev. S. Anand Samuel John Thomas.
The event featured a variety of athletic competitions including track and field events, indoor and outdoor games, and team sports. Students showcased remarkable sportsmanship, energy, and competitive spirit throughout the meet.
Winners were awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their outstanding performances. The event emphasized the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, leadership, and a healthy lifestyle among students.
