Thoothukudi, Feb 18, 2026:
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dr. G. U. Pope College of Engineering, Thoothukudi, organized a Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled “Strengthening Quality Standards” on Tuesday, 18 February 2026, at the Conclave Hall, Admin Block. The programme was conducted exclusively for the internal faculty members of the institution.
The session was led by Dr. B. William Dharma Raja, Former Head of the Department of Education, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, and currently the Executive Director of the Bethlehem Group of Institutions. During the session, the resource person elaborated on the importance of quality assurance mechanisms in higher education, effective teaching–learning practices, professional ethics, and the role of faculty in fostering institutional excellence.

Dr. Dharma Raja emphasized the significance of strong teacher–student relationships, values such as patience, forgiveness, and kindness in academic life, and the need for innovation in pedagogy to meet contemporary educational challenges. He also highlighted the relevance of NAAC quality indicators and continuous improvement practices in achieving academic and institutional standards.
The programme aimed at enhancing faculty awareness of quality benchmarks and reinforcing a culture of excellence aligned with accreditation requirements. Faculty members actively participated in the discussions, making the session interactive and reflective.
The programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. J. Japhynth, Principal, Dr. G. U. Pope College of Engineering, as part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to strengthen academic quality and professional development.
