YWCA, Tuticorin organised an advocacy programme on “Civic Awareness among Young Women” at Dr. G. U. Pope College of Engineering, Sawyerpuram, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The programme aimed at creating awareness among young women about their civic responsibilities, legal rights, and active role in democratic processes. Addressing the gathering, Adv. S. Sornalatha, M.A., M.L., Chief Guest and Speaker, highlighted the importance of informed citizenship, constitutional values, and women’s participation in social and public life. She emphasized that awareness and education are key to empowering women to take responsible decisions and contribute meaningfully to society.
The session witnessed active participation from students, who engaged in discussions on civic duties, legal awareness, and social responsibility. The speaker also encouraged young women to be confident, informed, and proactive in addressing social issues and exercising their rights.
The organisers stated that such advocacy programmes play a vital role in nurturing socially responsible citizens and strengthening democratic values among the younger generation.
